- Modeling of cosmological GW sources (first order phase transitions, domain walls, cosmic strings, … all using well motivated physics models)
- Data analysis & development of novel data analysis techniques (within Virgo and LVK)
- Instrumentation (partially in close collaboration with B-Phot – the large photonics group in the faculty of engineering).
- @Virgo: commissioning & noise hunting
- Einstein Telescope: instrumentation work happens mostly at the ET R&D center ETpathfinder at Maastricht. We contribute to the suspensions and the polishing of the Si mirrors. The polishing and metrology of the Si mirrors happens at the VUB Photonics Campus at Gooik.
